Johnson and Wales Presenter Visits Culinary Arts Classroom

On April 24, 2018, Austin Vennetti, Culinary Arts Classroom Presenter for Johnson and Wales University, talked with Theresa Formyduval’s Culinary Arts students. He discussed educational opportunities at Johnson and Wales University as well as gave the students tips on applications, scholarships, student organizations, and college life as they prepare for their careers. He demonstrated his sanitation skills as he added the Italian sausage wearing gloves and washing his hands afterwards to prevent cross-contamination and culinary knife skills cutting an onion and preparing garlic. His cooking skills were demonstrated as he made a recipe for One Pan Gnocchi with Italian Sausage and Spinach, which each student sampled. There is no application fee to apply to Johnson and Wales University which is a private and non-profit school.  Students can apply in their Junior or Senior year of high school. Approximately 99% of the students receive scholarships.  The website is www.jwu.edu for more information.
