ORIENTATION AND SCHEDULE


Student orientation/registration will be held on Wednesday, August 15
and Thursday, August 16. Students will register by grade level and last name. Please make sure that you arrive during your designated time.

Last name begins with   A - I August 15 9:00 – 10:00   a.m.
Last name begins with  J - Q August 15 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Last Name begins with  R – Z August 15 11:00 – 12:00 p.m.

Junior Schedule:
Last name begins with.  A - I August 15 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Last name begins with.  J - Q August 15 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Your School Counselor will determine if a change can be made to your schedule.  If you wish to speak with a counselor today, please go to the Counseling Department. You will need to sign in with the receptionist to see a counselor.

Fees/Debts:

When you get your schedule, you will also receive a fee sheet. If you wish to pay those today, you may go to the Fees station. Pay attention to the signs so you do not get into the wrong line! There are (4) lines.  You may choose any line.

***Fees may be paid online prior to orientation/registration. PLEASE have a copy of your receipt with you if you paid prior to orientation.

Lockers
(Location: Commons)

Lockers are $5, and may be paid when you pay your school fees.  You will be able to get your locker and locker combination today.

***If you pay for a locker with your school fees, simply take your receipt to the locker table as proof of payment.
***You may also pay for a locker with cash or check.

Yearbook Pictures:

If you are a freshman, sophomore or junior, please proceed to the picture area to have your yearbook picture taken.  Make checks payable to Lifetouch.


Destination #5
Student IDs:
(Location: Media Center)

Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors
will receive/pick-up their ID’s during orientation. Upperclassmen
WILL NOT be allowed to have another picture taken during this time.

You will have your picture taken during orientation and receive it at that time.

Parking:

A current SV parking tag must be purchased and the tag must be hung under the rear view mirror or displayed on the driver’s side of the dash with the number facing the front.  SV parking tags can be purchased for $25. All debts must be paid before a parking tag will be issued or a space is assigned. Please read and complete the parking agreement form.
Note: All student drivers must have taken Alive @25 before they can receive a parking decal.

***Frequently asked questions***

Will my student receive their textbook during orientation?
No. Textbooks will be distributed during the 1st week of school.

Will my student be able to receive their chromebook?
Students will receive information during the first week of school regarding chromebooks.

If I have more than one student to register, may I register them at one time?
Yes.  If you have more than one student, you may register them at the same time.

What fees can be paid online?
You can pay your student general fees, course fees, athletic participation fees, parking fees and locker fees.

If I don’t have a Parent Portal account, where do I go to set it up?
Go to psapp.richland2.org/public/ and click on “Create Account.”
You will need an email address and the date of birth and Student ID number (listed on your child’s schedule) for each of your children.

Can I pay my students fees online prior to coming to orientation?
Yes.  If you would like to avoid the lines, simply print a copy of your online receipt and bring it with you to orientation.  You will need to show your receipt if your student will be getting a locker or parking decal.

Senior Parking Lottery Information


There are a limited number of senior reserved parking spaces in the Atrium and Tennis lots and they will be assigned randomly on Friday morning, Aug. 10th. You have until 5:00 pm on Thursday, Aug 9 to enter the lottery. You must be signed into your Richland Two e-mail account to enter the lottery.  YOU CAN CLICK THE "Enter Lottery" LINK BELOW TO ENTER THE LOTTERY! 

Spring Valley Senior Parking Permit 
Please note, entering the lottery is not a guarantee that you will receive a reserved parking space. Students who do not receive a reserved space will be issued a parking tag for the upper lot.  You are only allowed to enter the lottery once. You must be classified as a "Senior" -- i.e. in 12th grade -- on August 3rd to be eligible for consideration.


You can pick up your parking tag beginning Wednesday, Aug. 15th at 9:00 am in C-148 from Mr. Jackson. Seniors who receive a reserved parking space through the lottery have until Aug. 24 to claim their tag. After Aug. 24, the space will be given up to the next eligible lottery senior. You must have the "SV Parking Agreement Form" completed and signed before you will be issued a tag.



You must also have taken and completed the Alive @ 25 course.


Spring Valley High School Girls Golf Practice/Tryout

Official practice for the Spring Valley High School Girls Golf team will begin on July 30, 2018 at the Woodlands Country Club from 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Girls must have a completed physical packet to practice/tryout. All physicals must be dated after April 1st, 2018

AP Calculus Summer Packet


Students enrolled in the AP Calculus AB (skinny) course for 2018-2019 school year will have an optional summer packet available July 15 via Stephanie Thomas Fowler's web page. Solutions to the summer package will be made available three days prior to class. You should check your solutions and have any questions you have about the problems contained in the summer packet prepared on the first day of class.

2018-2019 Schedules are Still In-Progress!

Scheduling for the 2018-2019 school year is in progress.  Any schedule you may see through Parent Portal IS NOT a final schedule.  When scheduling is complete, a Schedule Change Request Form will be sent out.  Walk-in requests for schedule changes cannot be accommodated by School Counselors at this time since scheduling is not complete.

Spring Valley Summer Reading

Students may acquire their summer reading text is a variety of ways. Students are not required to purchase a text for summer reading. Students may elect to buy their text, borrow it from the library, download it legally onto an electronic reader (Kindle, Nook, etc.), or read it online if it is legally available. If you have any trouble locating or acquiring a copy of your summer reading text choices, you may contact Mrs. Jennifer Wargel for options and details at jwargel@richland2.org. Assignments are strongly suggested but not required. These assignments will allow students to be fully prepared for their course work.
