Spring Valley High School will operate on a 4-day week from June 10th - Aug. 2nd.  We will be open to the public from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday through Thursday.  Spring Valley High School offices will be closed the week of July 4th. We will resume a 5-day work week on August 5th.

Congrats Senior JROTC Student Jocelyn Patino

Senior Cadet Colonel Jocelyn A. Patino was selected as the Wing Commander for the SC AFJROTC Cadet Leadership Course held at The Citadel, June 16 - 22. Spring Valley senior and Commander of the Spring Valley JROTC Corp of Cadets, Patino bested 10 other cadets, many of them Commanders at their school for this prestigious honor. As the Wing Commander of 300 cadets, she was responsible for executing the schedule and effectively communicating the daily plan to her staff and the cadets attending the summer leadership program.  She is Spring Valley's first selection as Wing Commander at the largest AFJROTC summer leadership course in the southeast. Additionally, Cadet Patino has been selected and will attend the prestigious Gen Tommy Franks 4-star leadership school next month as she prepares to command the Spring Valley Corps of Cadets.

Congrats Eileen Chen for her performance at Piccolo Spoleto Festival

Congratulations to Eileen Chen for her performance and participation in Rising Stars Piccolo Spoleto 2019.  The goal of Rising Stars Piccolo Spoleto is to provide artistically talented youth of the US Southeast (SC, NC, GA, TN, AL, MS, and FL) with a high profile performance venue that recognizes their exceptional artistic talent.  Eileen was one of six students chosen that are gifted in classical dance, creative writing, classical music, theatre, or visual art.

Congratulations to Eileen, her parents, and her teacher, Dr. Janine Parnell!

Blossom Street Garage– Located at 1300 Blossom Street. Graduates should park in this garage and ride the USC Shuttle to the Lincoln Street side of the Colonial Life Arena. Shuttle pick up to the Colonial Life Arena will be at the corner of Sumter and Blossom streets

Parking for Attendees
Complimentary Parking in the following areas based on a first come first served basis:

Senate Street Garage –Entrance is located on the corner of Senate and Pickens streets. Shuttle pick up to the Colonial Life Arena will be at the corner of Pickens and Pendleton streets.

Pendleton Street Garage – Entrance is located on the corner of Pendleton and Pickens streets. Park only in the metered parking spaces. Vehicles parked in non-metered spaces are subject to ticket and tow. Shuttle pick up to the Colonial Life Arena will be at the corner of Pickens and Pendleton streets.

Good Afternoon Spring Valley Seniors & Families

As we prepare for graduation tomorrow, June 5th here is some information that will be useful:

Seniors must arrive no later than 2:45 pm to the Colonial Life Arena.  

SECURITY PROCEDURES:
There has been an addition to the security process for all High School Graduations.
Colonial Life Arena is a Clear Bag Policy Building.
Along with the Bag Checks at all entrances into the facility, there will now be metal detectors at all entrances. This process is known as wanding.

The Arena does not allow items listed below to be brought in by patrons:
Aerosol cans
Outside Food & Beverages
Alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs
Animals (except certified service animals for the disabled)
Beach balls, Balloons and other inflatables
Bullhorns, air horns or any noisemakers
Tripods (Uni-pods only)
Laptops
Confetti or Stickers
Concealed FIrearms, Mace, Tasers or other weapons
Fireworks or Explosives
Backpacks or Large Bags/Purses
Glass bottles or aluminum cans
Ice chests (coolers) or thermos containers
Laser pointers
IPads and Tablets
Skateboards or roller blades
Sticks or clubs (including sticks attached to signs)
Stools or folding chairs
Water bottles or mugs
Posters or Banners
Pompoms
Flowers in a vase (wrapped only)
Flags

Wanding and bag checks will be in place at the back door for students as well. Please make sure you understand that being on time is going to be extremely important. Make sure you do not carry items in access and only carry what you need (keys, cell phones, wallets, etc.) To help the process move quickly and smoothly, as you approach the back door you will need to have your gown unzipped and have everything out of your pockets and in your hand.

Viking Sports Wrap: Head Coaches Banquet


Last night Spring Valley held their annual Head Coaches Banquet. They had so much to celebrate and to be proud of with an Upper-State Championship and 12 Region IV AAAAA Championships. In addition to all of these achievements, they had a special presentation to 3 long-standing coaches at SVHS who are leaving as coaches.

Steve Lea and Dave Clark: Both served over 24 years as Head Coaches of our Soccer Program

Rick Crumpler: Served over 38 years as an assistant coach for both Football and Track & Field
