Mask Extenders for First Responders Update
During this time it is so great to see how Spring Valley is able to give back to our community. Spring Valley's bookkeeper Mrs. Sandra Watts learned from a story on WISTV how a young eagle scout was creating mask relief extenders on his 3D printer. She brought the idea to our engineering teacher Mr. Scott Price and he immediately agreed to help. He used Spring Valley's 3D printer to create mask relief extenders for our first responders here in South Carolina.
Well, this story isn't over just yet after we posted about this project on Viking Update Parth Desai a Spring Valley student decide he wanted to help. He contacted Mr. Price and was able to help produce more mask extenders that we were able to hand out to our first responders.
Here is a list of the first responders these mask extenders went too:

2020 SCYC Summer Fellows
We are now accepting applications for 2020 SCYC Summer Fellows!
South Carolina Youth Collective (SCYC) Summer Fellows program is coming up this summer, from June 8-12th, 2020. The program will be a week-long virtual fellowship where teens will learn about social justice, civil rights, and activism in order to start a change-making project in their own communities.
Due to COVID-19, SCYC Summer Fellows will be offered virtually. While we are disappointed to not be able to gather in person, we are excited that the virtual format allows us to accept everyone who applies and to reach teens from across the state, region, and nation!
The SCYC Fellows are social justice and civics minded high school students from across South Carolina. Students will participate in community building exercises, learn civil rights history through activities and virtual field trips, plan to lead a workshop on race and reconciliation, and learn how to plan and implement a project in their home community.
Come build lasting bonds with other SCYC Fellows!
Rising freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible to apply. This project is generously supported by the Knight Foundation Fund at Central Carolina Community Foundation and the Lipscomb Family Foundation.
There is no charge to participate. Click this link to apply.
Remember Your Entire Journey - Buy a Yearbook Today
Time at school has been cut short. Spring sports were called off. Graduation may not be the celebration students have dreamed of. It's not fair, but it's reality. But through all this, one thing remains a constant, there will be a yearbook and it will cover events that happened to this point (even spring sports). This year's book also celebrates Spring Valley's 50th Golden anniversary. Be sure to help your student remember the good times they have had this year and the memories they have created by reserving their copy of the Saga yearbook today. Don't wait to purchase at school due to new developments happening daily with COVID-19, online might be your only way to order. There is a limited supply of books that will be available, and last year they sold out before the end of May. Buy now to reserve your copy by going to www.yearbookforever.com.
