The fourth annual Google Science Fair opens for entries on 12 February 2014. Students aged 13-18 from all across the globe can participate in the competition by submitting a science or engineering project online. Students can win some amazing prizes, experiences and will have the opportunity to share their ideas with the world.

On Friday night at Lugoff, the
Lady Vikings defeated Lugoff 88-23 to up their record to 17-2 overall and 5-1 in
the Region. All of the Lady Vikings were able to score! Scorers for Spring Valley:

Congratulations to Gregory Rassolov and Aakash Shingala for being named candidates in the 2014 United States Presidential Scholars Program. The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964, by
executive order of the President, to recognize and honor some of our
nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors. In 1979, the
program was extended to recognize students who demonstrate exceptional
talent in the visual, creative and performing arts. Each year, up to 141
students are named as Presidential Scholars, one of the nation's

Lance Murphy Named National Achievement Scholarship Program Finalist
Congratulations to senior Lance Murphy for being named a National Achievement Scholarship Program Finalist. Of the more than 160,000 students who currently enter the National
Achievement® Program each year, over 4,700 are honored. A smaller group
of about 1,600 are named Semifinalists, the only students who have an
opportunity to advance in the competition for National Achievement
Scholarships. Approximately 1,300 Semifinalists qualify as Finalists. Beginning in late February, the National Achievement® Program
notifies about 800 Finalists that they have been selected to receive a

Prom Tickets For Sale
We will be selling prom tickets for the prom which is scheduled for May 3, 2014 at 701 Whaley. Tickets will only be sold on Thursdays in the Atrium lobby. Senior tickets are free but each senior MUST sign up for his/her own ticket. If a date is from another school then a ticket must be purchased. All students with dates from other schools must have date approval forms completed with all necessary signatures. If a date is in college or the workforce then there is a different form to fill out.
