Varsity Football

The Spring Valley Varsity football team defeats Lugoff-Elgin HS 58-21 Friday night. The Vikings were led on offense by Ryan Lee who had 11 rushes for 111 yards and 1 TD. Ty'Juan Fulton had 12 rushes for 152 yards and 4 TD's. Terrell Jackson had 56 yards and 1 TD and Peyton Pendarvis had 46 yards rushing. RJ Bacon had 2 receptions for 87 yards and 1 TD. Bruce Williams had a 25 yard FG. The Viking offensive line of Prince Howard, Ty Tallant, Henry Brown, Jordan Stiffler and Brandon Johnson helped the vikings rush for 390 yards. 

On defense the Vikings were led by Cameron Jones who had 5 tackles 1 interception returned 42 yards for a TD and 55 yard punt return for a TD. Shawn Moore had 9 tackles, 1 Tackle for loss, 1 caused fumble and 1 fumble recovery. Kenan Reed had 10 tackles. Justin Haynes had 6 tackles and 1 Tackle for loss. Channing Tindall and Peyton Pendarvis both caused fumbles. 

The Vikings are 1-0 in the region and have a huge game with Dutch Fork this Friday at  Dutch Fork. 

Boys Cross Country

Saturday, the Boys Cross Country Team hosted the Sandhills Invitational. 51 schools registered - there were over 350 runners on the line for several of the races. Our boys finished a respectable 7th. This Thursday is our Region Meet at Sandhills at5:30pm. It will be a very tight meet between us and Dutch Fork. Please support the boys this week.

Culinary Arts Receives Grant from Sparkleberry Country Fair

Theresa Formyduval, Culinary Arts Instructor at Spring Valley High School, was awarded a grant from the Sparkleberry Country Fair Grant Committee to be used by her Culinary Arts program.  Her entry,“Creating Baked Goods and Pastries,”  was one of the twenty-eight out of 89 proposed projects receiving funding.  A total of $15,000 was presented to Superintendent Dr. Debbie Hamm from Sparkleberry County Fair Chairman John Monroe on October 13 to fund Richland School District 2 grants.  The grants received on October 13 by the winners are from funds received from the 2015 Sparkleberry Country Fair.  The next fair is planned for Saturday, April 30, 2016. Interact Club

Interact, a community service based club will be holding a meeting Tuesday October 20th in D127. There is no criteria to join the club, and new members are welcomed!
