The Backpack Round Up Project is used in an effort to help collect new or used backpacks for the homeless in Columbia. For the thousands of homeless in town it is very difficult to maintain a place for their basic possessions like soap, extra garments, and change. Often they are assaulted and robbed for what little they have. When backpacks are provided to them it can make a world of difference. It is a sturdy and useful bag that they can secure very close to their body to hold all that they own in the world.
Richland Two has partnered with Resurrections Ministries of Columbia once again to recycle student backpacks to help the homeless! A box will be at the Atrium desk beginning on Friday May 30th for students to turn in their donations. The backpacks will be picked up on Wednesday, June 3rd and Thursday, June 4th and will be given to homeless in need. If you have a new or used backpack to donate, please drop it off at the Atrium desk.
