Martin Li and Madison Pobis, Discovery juniors, attended the International Sustainable World Energy, Engineering, and Environment Project Olympiad (I-SWEEEP) held in Houston, Texas May 1st - 5th. Madison was selected to represent our state/country by carrying the flags during the Opening Ceremony. Martin's project, titled "Generating Power from Human Footsteps Through a Mechanical Floor Tile ," and Madison’s project, titled "The Effect of Discharge on Specific Conductance from Three Different Sites Within the Santee River Basin," were selected to compete at I-SWEEEP at the 2014 South Carolina Region II Science and Engineering Fair. At I-SWEEEP, Martin and Madison won silver ($400) and bronze ($150) medals, respectively. Congratulations to Martin, Madison, their parents, and their research teacher, Mrs. Michelle Spigner!
