Fifty-five Discovery sophomores and juniors competed in the University of South Carolina Region II Science and Engineering Fair on March 13th, 2015. Each of these students did a wonderful job presenting his/her research to the judges from University of South Carolina, the United States Navy/Marine Corps, Fort Jackson, Congaree National Park, INTEL and many other professional organizations. Approximately 200 students from area high schools were interviewed by judges to determine the best of the 170 submitted projects. Jacob Cooney and Grace Smith were chosen as the Grand Male and Female Award Winners, respectively. Krishna Gorrepati and Tanvi Mehta were awarded the Silver Medal/Second place Grand Awards. Grace and Jacob will travel to Pittsburgh, PA in May to compete in the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). Tanvi will attend ISEF as an Observer. Krishna will travel to Houston, TX to compete in the International Sustainable World (Energy, Engineering, & Environment) Project Olympiad (I-SWEEEP) also in May.
