On September 29th, AP Environmental Science students conducted their annual basic water quality analysis of the lake at Sesquicentennial State Park. As part of an ecology unit students planned and implemented a basic study of the abiotic and biotic factors used to classify lakes. This included nutrients (phosphorus, ammonium, and nitrates), dissolved oxygen, temperature, depth, fecal contamination, and turbidity. A team of students are also producing a video documentary of the survey. A portion of this video report will be broadcast to the school via the school news show. Data collected will also be shared with the State Park.
