“Purple Up! For Military Kids” on April 15th
“Purple Up!” is an annual campaign sponsored by Operation Military Kids (OMK) in support of our military children. This year’s designated national “Purple Up! For Military Kids” date is April 15, 2016.
On this day, schools across the nation will plan events that recognize and show appreciation for military students. Military children face many challenges that are unique to their situation--such as having a parent deployed for extended periods of time and moving frequently. Deployments and family separations can be stressful times for children. Families may also struggle as soldiers return home without any physical injuries but suffer from severe psychological wounds.
Richland Two students, faculty and staff are encouraged to wear purple on Friday, April 15th as a visible way to show support and thank military children for their resilience and sacrifices.
