L-R (Alyssa Williams and Jennifer Bartell, Spring Valley Teacher) |
For the second consecutive year, Spring Valley will have a student in the Poetry Out Loud State Finals. Freshman Alyssa Williams was one of three finalists from Region 2 who will advance to the State Poetry Out Loud Competition, which will be on March 11 at the Columbia Museum of Art from 1- 3 p.m.
Alyssa recited the poems "When You Are Old" by William Butler Yeats and "Insomnia" by Dana Gioia. For Regions, students are not ranked according to points; students with the top 3 scores automatically advance to the State Finals.
The winner of the State Finals represents South Carolina in the National Finals in Washington, D.C.
We are proud of Alyssa wish her the best of luck!
