Krishna Gorrepati, Discovery Class of 2016, and Sarayu Das, a Discovery senior, have had their research published in the Journal of the South Carolina Academy of Science, a peer- reviewed electronic publication. Krishna is currently a sophomore Computer Science major at Stanford University, while Sarayu is just beginning the application process to colleges. Krishna’s research focused on photoelectrochemical fuel cells; Sarayu’s project examined the effects of two pharmaceuticals commonly found in the river at Congaree National Park on prevalent, aquatic species. Prior to publication, these students’ manuscripts were sent for review by experts in these research fields. Having research published in a peer-reviewed journal is quite an accomplishment, particularly for high school students. Congratulations to these two students and their research teachers, Mrs. Michelle Spigner and Mr. Dale Soblo!
