Veterans Appreciation Assembly

We are excited that former Fort Jackson Commander Major General Abe Turner will be our guest speaker on Tuesday, Nov. 7th for the Veterans Appreciation Assembly. The Fort Jackson 282nd Band along with SVHS Symphonic Band will be performing patriotic songs. Our SVHS JROTC will be presenting the flag and the Armed Drill Team will be performing. We will extend an invitation to any veteran in the community to attend the Veterans Appreciation Breakfast in the Media Center from 8:00 am - 8:50 am and would love for them to attend and be recognized in the assembly in the main gym starting at 9:00 am. We will have reserved parking in the Atrium lot for all veterans and guests. Our students have submitted photos of family members who have served and are serving in the military that will be shared at the assembly and throughout the week on our monitors. We will commemorate Patriotism Week which includes the eleventh day of November in each year with patriotic signs, banners, the Veterans Appreciation Assembly and finally providing resources for teachers to:

(1)     recognize the important contributions made by our military veterans to American society;
(2)     honor the supreme sacrifices made by our veterans in defending the freedoms and protections afforded by the United States Constitution; and
(3)     memorialize those men and women who lost their lives in military service.
