Boys Cross Country
10/14
Saturday, the Boys Cross Country Team hosted and ran in the CiCi's Sandhills Invitational. This was by far our best race of the year. The Varsity placed 4th out of 62 schools and was the first 5A finisher. Among those 5A teams, we beat was #4 ranked Wando. In the race we had 4 runners go under 17:00 for the 5K course. This is the best team we have had since the 2003 State Championship team. Our leaders were Steven Andreen, Amir Mccall, Murray Jones, George Wells, Jacob Ho and Carlos Angeles.
The team will be in good hands in the future as our JV team placed 2nd. Our top young runners are Fernando Castro (9th), Ethan Taylor (8th), Henry Pettis (8th), Andrew Polson (9th), Evan Goodyear (9th) and Joe Lovotti (9th).
The team would like to thank all those that helped make the meet a big success: Mitch Pizza Boy Uehling (CiCi's owner), Rachel Push-What-Button Lindman, Never-Say-No-Joe Paschal, Joe's wife and son, Angie Keep-Moving Gregory, Danny and Amy Kittrell, Kanisa Williams, Kamal Marshall, Chris Bell and many more parents and friends.
The team hosts the Region Championship this Thursday at Sandhills starting at 4pm. Admission is free. Our boys face #1 ranked Lexington. Say a prayer for us.
Girls Golf
10/16
The Lady Vikings traveled to Florence on Monday to compete in the girl's golf lower state championship at Country Club of SC. The weather conditions made play very difficult with the rain, wind and the cooler temps that settled in afterward. The girls gave a hard-fought effort but unfortunately, the Lady Vikings were not able to advance to the State championship as a team. But our senior Captain Payton Starmack was able to finish in the top 20 of 78 players and qualify as an individual.
Please congratulate the players for their great efforts throughout the entire season and wish Payton the best as she represents Spring Valley in the State championship October 23rd and 24th at the Country Club of Lexington.
