Spring Valley Girls Lacrosse played Irmo High on Friday, March 9th, 2018.

The Irmo Yellow Jackets and the Spring Valley Vikings played at Spring Valley High on a chilly Friday night.

The Yellow Jackets utilized their cardiovascular endurance throughout the game, using their speed to their advantage to get down the field while running with the ball in their lacrosse sticks.

The Vikings used their stick skills, transition skills, and ground ball abilities to keep the ball in their position for the majority of the game.

The Vikings were able to score 20 times, with Hannah Huntley scoring 5 goals. Payton Starmack and Bay Thomas each had 4 goals, Turner Prewitt scored 3 goals, Ashlee Nall scored 2 goals, Libby Winchip and Ryley Starmack each had one goal. Goals were not our only strength, we also had a few assists. Ashlee Nall had three assists, Payton Starmack and Ryley Starmack each had two assists, and Ally Ramirez, Bay Thomas, and Turner Prewitt each had one assist.

The Yellow Jackets had a hard time getting through our Viking Goalie, Tianna Fuller, where there were 8 total shots on goal. Tianna only let two goals by her all night. Tianna was loud and helped the defense know where the ball was when the ball was down near our defense.

The ending score was 20 to 2, Vikings victory!

Our next game is on Monday, March 12, at 6:00 pm. It may be a rainy game, so please come ready for the rain with proper gear! Thank you for your support, fans!

Last night, the girl's soccer team defeated Westwood by a score of 5-0. A close first half score (1-0) was opened up to a solid lead in the second half when some of the SV shots finally began to find the net behind an excellent Westwood goalkeeper. Tuesday's game is the annual Ashley Nicole Dent Memorial Soccer Game(always the first time Irmo and Spring Valley play each season), in honor of Spring Valley soccer's Ashley Dent (Class of 2008), who was lost to her teammates in a 2006 automobile accident after soccer practice with her club team.
