Almost eighty Discovery magnet students traveled to Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC for the 2018 South Carolina Junior Academy of Science (SCJAS) meeting. Sixty-eight sophomores and juniors competed with both written research papers and oral presentations by category. There were over 230 oral presentations. Our students earned fifty-nine awards totaling ~$3000. In addition, Khushi Patel (10) and Pallavi Rao (10) each won first place in both the written paper and oral presentation divisions for her category. Congratulations to all of our Discovery students for their hard work and dedication. Also, a big congratulations and thank you to these students' research teachers, Dr. Bedlek-Anslow, Mr. Dale Soblo, and Mrs. Michelle Spigner, who spent hours reading research papers, helping with experiments, and encouraging students to persevere!
