Job Description
An eligible candidate for this position must successfully complete job readiness training at one of Gap Inc.’s This Way Ahead nonprofit partners. The following describes the general nature and level of work but is not inclusive of all duties. The Sales Associate is responsible for:
- Interacting with customers and employees to create a positive, friendly environment;
- Maximizing sales by ensuring a neat, clean and organized store;
- Coordinating with leaders, stock and other sales associates to ensure a positive, friendly and efficient customer experience;
- Acknowledging and assisting customers, locating merchandise, answering questions quickly and accurately;
- Offering style and outfit suggestions to the customer, utilizing mannequins and displays for inspiration;
- Knowing and offering information to the customer on current merchandise assortment, store promotions and events;
- Offering brand credit card to every customer; encouraging cardholders to use the card;
- Preventing theft and loss through positive customer engagement and application of Gap Inc. loss prevention techniques;
- Performing all cash wrap transactions accurately; encouraging participation in the customer opinion survey;
- Upholding all company policies as outlined in the Policy & Procedure guide, including Code of Business Conduct and the Employee Policy Guide;
- Meeting or exceeding company productivity standards for all operational processes.
Qualifications
Has successfully completed This Way Ahead job readiness training at one of Gap Inc.’s This Way Ahead nonprofit partners
Demonstrated time management and organizational skills;
Proven communication skills;
Passion for extraordinary customer service;
Attention to detail;
Ability to receive feedback and take action when appropriate;
Ability to prioritize tasks;
Ability to effectively maneuver around sales floor and stockroom;
Ability to effectively communicate with customers and store personnel;
Repetitive bending, prolonged standing, twisting, stooping, squatting, and climbing;
Ability to lift and carry 30 lbs.;
Ability to work with/around cleaning chemicals;
Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, which will require evening and weekend shifts.
