Spring Valley Raises Funds for the Fistula Foundation

During the 4th quarter of the 2013 school year, Spring Valley Call to Action and Spring Valley National Honor Society raised $1500 for the Fistula Foundation.   These fundraisers were planned and conducted in conjunction with the school wide Spring Valley Footprints project.  The Fistula Foundation works to end the suffering caused by the childbirth injury of obstetric fistula.   This is the third year that Spring Valley students have adopted the Fistula Foundation as the recipient of a major fundraising campaign.   The students know that their work will ensure that girls and young women in sub-Saharan Africa will receive badly needed medical care.

Automotive Technology Program Receives National Accreditation

Spring Valley's Automotive Technology program recently received accreditation from the National Automotive Technician Education Foundation (NATEF), the educational branch for the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence.  ASE works to improve the quality of vehicle repair and service by testing and certifying automotive professionals.    Spring Valley's Automotive Technology program underwent a rigorous review by a NATEF evaluation team earlier this spring.  The school received word this week that they had been awarded the accrediation by meeting "the strict industry standards required for accreditation in the areas of Maintenance and Light Repair," according to Patricia Serratore, president of NATEF.   Way to go!
