The Spring Valley varsity football team defeated Blythewood 49-20 Friday night to run their record to 7-0 and 1-0 in region play. The Vikings are now ranked #5 in the state. The Vikings were led on defense by several outstanding performances. Christian Miller had 6 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and 3 sacks, Josh Harlan 13 tackles, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery, Donovan Palmer had 10 tackles, 1 sack and 2 pass break ups and Malik Norman had 8 tackles and 1 pass break up. Cooper Gresham was 7 for 7 on extra points.
On offense the Vikings were led by Alec Koon who rushed 27 times for 193 yards. John Miller had 18 rushes for 143 yards and 3 TD's. Chris Adams had 18 rushes for 96 yards and 1 TD. He also had 2 touchdown passes to L.J. Mealing and Jordan Foster. Ryan Lee had 7 carries for 66 yards and 1 TD. The Vikings had a great effort by their offensive line led by Frank Ward. The Vikings had 575 yards of total offense.
The Vikings will travel to Irmo on Friday, October 18th in a huge region game which possibly could be a pivotal game in winning the region. The Vikings need all the fans to make the trip across town for this big game. There was a terrific crowd last Friday night for the Blythewood game.
