Girls Varsity Basketball
The Lady Vikings opened Region IV AAAA play with a victory over Lugoff- Elgin at the Valley last Friday. Every player contributed to the lopsided 88-6 victory. Junior Akia Dunlap led all scorers with 20 points followed by sophomore  Bayleigh Ponds with 18 and 5 rebounds. Senior Cierra Carter netted 14 and junior Megan Davis  scored 10 points and dished out 6 assists. Senior Briana Hill tallied 5 steals. Congratulations to Cierra Carter for scoring her 1000th career point!! The Lady Vikings are 13-1 overall . The next home game is this Tuesday, January 14th against Blythewood at 6:00.

Boys Varsity Basketball
Congratulations to the boys basketball team with a win over Lugoff-Elgin 84-53. Our leading scorers were Chris Adams with 15 points. Ja'lon Williams with 13 points. Marcus Holloway with 12 points,  and John Miller with 11 points. Great team effort. Please come support our Vikings Tuesday, January 14th as we play Blythewood here at home @ 7:30 p.m. following the girls game.


Wrestling
This weekend the wrestling team competed in the Hartsville Red Fox Duals. The tournament boasted 8 teams ranked in the top 20 of their respective A classifications.  The wrestling team had an outstanding performance finishing 4th out of 22 teams.  The team led by seniors Brandyn Thompson, Rene Rodriguez and freshman Devon Quattlebaum, defeated Keenan, Camden Military Academy and the host Hartsville to advance to the semifinals of the dual team tournament. In the semifinals the team fell to 3rd ranked St. Marion and the lost to defending 3A State Champions Socaste, to finish the tournament in fourth place. The team is next in action here this Friday, January 17th as they wrestle cross town rival Westwood.  Friday will be senior night so come out and show your support. Wrestling begins at 6pm with the JV teams clashing followed by the varsity match at 7pm.  

B-Team Basketball
The B-Team faced Sumter on Monday, January 6. After a hard fought game, we fell to a very physical Sumter team. That makes our record 5-2. We fell in a hole early in the game and it was a little too much to overcome. With that being said, we never gave up as a team and fought hard as a team.  Scorers in the game were; Robert Gantt (8), Noah Guyton (6), Cliff Reece (6), Jonathan Mikell (5), Isaiah Joyner (3), and Darian Childress (2).

The B-Team faced Lexington on Thursday January 9. After a hard fought battle throughout entire game, we pulled ahead with 3 minutes left in the game and held onto the lead for the win. The final score was 38-40 and that makes our record 6-2. This was an entire team effort with the leading scorer being Robert Gantt with 11 points. Jonathan Mikell, Darian Childress, Daveon Davis, and John Kennedy each contributed 6 points.
