Please join me in congratulating Crystal Lee, Karen Lee and Gillian Herrin who have been recognized with a Regional Award in The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards of 2014, presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. Gillian Herrin received Gold Key for poetry titled "People" and she also received Honorable Mention for poetry titled "Fettling". Crystal Lee received Honorable Mention for a personal essay/memoir titled "11:12". Karen Lee received Honorable Mention for poetry titled "Patches Of Song". This is a remarkable achievement for these students. Their work was recognized by a panel of creative professionals as the most outstanding work submitted among their peers. In 2014, more than 255,000 works were submitted to The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards nationwide. Only the top 40% receive some level of regional recognition (Gold Key, Silver Key or Honorable Mention). Hats off to these students!
