Softball
The varsity softball team took a tough loss yesterday to the visiting Silver Foxes. Dutch Fork was able to take a 5-0 lead early in the game. Our Vikings showed a lot of fight, and chipped away, scoring 2 runs in back-to-back innings. The Foxes were able to capitalize on some of our mistakes in the 7th to get 3 more runs. Next up for the girls is a big region game at Lugoff Elgin today. JV starts at 5:30, and varsity at 7. Come out and support your Lady Vikings!
Boys Lacrosse
The boy's team traveled to RNE Thursday night to try to seal the Region Championship with a win. The Vikings came away victorious and are Region Champions for the 3rd consecutive year.
Scoring for the Vikings were Eli Burch (5 goals), Paul Currey (4 goals, 1 assist), Gerard Smith (4 goals, 1 assist), Matthew Hogue (2 goals, 3 assists), and DeShan Wilson (2 goals). Adding assists were Noah Diamond (3), Ryan Cain (1) and Connor Sears (1). Tre Hollis went 9 of 11 in faceoffs. The VIkings scored on all 3 man-up situations, as well.
Defensively, Gerard Smith led with 9 ground balls, while Suraj Vytla collected 3 from the "close D" position. As a combined unit, the defense only turned the ball over 5 times. Goalies, led by Connor Sears, had 9 saves combined.
The Vikings await their playoff destiny which will be decided on Saturday.
Girls Lacrosse
Spring Valley girls lacrosse traveled to RNE Thursday night. The Vikings started strong and were able to keep the lead for the rest of the game. Scoring goals for the Vikings were Rimel Mwamba ( 10 goals) and Breanna Seawell (2 goal, 1 assist). Vanessa Walter added a key assist while Lindsey Miller added 2 more assists to finish it out for the Vikings. Defensively, the Vikings had 2 caused turnovers and picked up 46 ground balls. Hannah Hawkins played all 50 minutes and had an incredible 11 saves. The girls' lacrosse team will travel to Charleston Saturday, April 5. To take on Bishop England High School who is currently the #1 team in SC.
