Congratulations to Gillian Herrin who has been recognized with a Regional Award in The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards of 2015, presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. Gillian Herrin received Gold Key for a personal essay/memoir titled "Brat Meets World" and she also received Silver Key for a short story titled "Golden Hour" and poetry titled "I Swear I'm an Architect". This is a remarkable achievement for her. Her work was recognized by a panel of creative professionals as the most outstanding work submitted among her peers. In 2015, more than 300,000 works were submitted to The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards nationwide. Only the top 40% receive some level of regional recognition (Gold Key, Silver Key or Honorable Mention). Hats off to Gillian!
