Spring Valley's HOSA attended the 2016 HOSA State Leadership Conference in Charleston, SC on March 16-18, 2016. Twenty six HOSA members attended and competed in the event. Priyanka Rao was elected as the 2016-2017 HOSA Secretary and Tanvi Mehta was elected as the 2016-2017 HOSA Vice President.
The First Place winners were Arya Soman in Dental Terminology, Alekhya Mitta in Human Growth and Development, Ishita Kapoor in Physical Therapy, Aman Pitalia in Sports Medicine, Justin Green in Job Seeking Skills, and Nerielle Legaspi and Wenxin Fan in Health Career Display.
Second Place winners were Hanamei Shao in Behavioral Health, Sreeja Varanasi in Biomedical Laboratory Science, and Tanvi Mehta and Priyanka Rao in Emergency Medical Technicians.
The Third Place winner was Sarayu Das in Transcultural Health Care.
Pricilla Li won a $1000.00 Scholarship and Malarie Schexnider won a $600.00 Scholarship. Malarie Schexnider was selected as the SVHS Outstanding HOSA Member. Ishita Kapoor was a top winner in the Healthcare Issues Exam. Vinita Cheepurupalli was a Bronze Barbara James Service Award winner. SVSH HOSA was a Silver Award contributor in the Leukemia and Lymphoma National Service Project. Nerielle Legaspi accepted the award for the HOSA Chapter Reflections Scrapbook Award. The students were chaperoned by Lorie McDuffie, Layne Bee and Mary Morgan.
The SLC winners will compete in the HOSA International Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee in June 2016.
