Girls Lacrosse
Spring Valley falls to A.C. Flora 10-5

The Spring Valley Vikings girl’s lacrosse team hosted the A.C. Flora Falcons on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The game had a slow start with the Viking’s Krysta Wilson winning the first draw control and going on the attack. The Vikings were initially unable to execute and after several minutes the Falcons made their way onto the board. The game continued with possession going back and forth between the teams while the Viking’s defense held the Falcons off. Spring Valley forced Flora to slow down the ball and kept the game to a low score until the Viking’s Ciera Davis made her way onto the board with 10 minutes left in the half. Zhane Bradley then added to the total a minute later bringing the score to 5-2.  Flora added one last goal in the half with 7 minutes to go, after which both teams fought hard to keep the other from being able to find the back of the net.

In the second half Spring Valley’s Indirah Canzater and Taylor Motlong added two unanswered goals bringing the score to 6-4 with 15 minutes left in the game. The Falcons then added 4 more goals in the next 7 minutes bring the score to 10-4. Armia Shell added a final goal to the Viking’s total with 8 minutes left, and despite a hard fought effort on the part of the Vikings, no team scored for the remainder of the game.

Spring Valley did a beautiful job slowing down Flora’s signature midfield transition and quick attack while their offense worked together to allow 5 different players to score. Ultimately, the team fell short in the exciting match and are looking forward to taking on the Falcons again April 14th at Bolden Stadium.
The Vikings take on Hilton Head on Tuesday, March 15th 2016 in Hilton Head, SC. Their next home match will take place March 21st at 6:00pm against Dutch Fork High School. We hope to see you there!

Softball: Lady Wildcat Invitational: The softball team played in the Lexington Wildcat Invitational this weekend.  The girls had a few tough losses against North Davidson, River Bluff and Gilbert, but finished strong with wins versus Strom Thurmond and James Island.  Overall record is now 3-3, with region games starting tomorrow at home versus Lugoff Elgin. JV starts at 5:30, and Varsity at 7:15. Come out and support the girls!
