The SV JV football team beat Irmo in a defensive struggle last night, 13-8. This win improves our record to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the region. Defensively we did not allow Irmo to complete a pass the entire game! Playing man coverage most of the game, the Vikings were led on defense by the defensive secondary consisting of Isiah Miller, Kyle Fortner, Rodney Young, Calvin Johnson, Kamar Hall, Harrison Gowland and Hunter Rodgers. Fortner also played Linebacker, who teamed up with Danny Evans on multiple tackles.Offensively we scored on our opening drive with tackle-breaking runs by Danny Evans and Oru-Ntui Nkiri(OT). Also completing two crucial 3rd down passes on that drive was QB Maddux Harrell to Running Backs Thaddeus Young and Calvin Johnson. Evans finished the drive with a short TD run. Young scored on a diving 3rd quarter run to put SV up 13-0. Offensively this may not have been our best game but the offense is churning out yards and getting better each game because we have only attempted ONE PUNT in the last 3 games. Next week the JV football team travels to River Bluff.

The Lady Viking seniors completed their regular season with a bang! They hosted a young but improved Lugoff Elgin squad at the Woodlands country club yesterday. Our seniors really stepped up for their last home match. The Lady Vikings defeated the LE Lady Demons with a team score of 207 to 233. The lowest team score of the season. Payton Starmack was low medalist overall shooting a nice under par round of 35, her lowest for the season and tying her low for her career. Caroline Lumpkin and Paris Stevenson also contributed nice rounds for the team score and Paris making her first career birdie on hole #7. One other Lady Viking contributing to overall team score was junior Madeline Kay.
Please wish the team luck as they travel to Ponderosa country club on Monday, October 9th to play in the 5A region tournament!
