Football
10/26
Thursday night the JV Football team completed their season with 20-6 win over Blythewood. The story of the game was the dominant defense of the young Vikings as they held the Bengal offense to minus -29 yards rushing for the game. 14 of the 23 rushing attempts by their opponent were tackled for loss yardage. For the game the SV defense allowed 23 total yards. By far the best defensive performance and most dominant game in years by the JV team. Outside linebacker tandem of Johnathon Hafner and Johnathon Sanders were the big play makers last night with Hafner recording 5 sacks, 2 TFL (tackles for loss) and a FR(fumble recovery), Sanders having 3 sacks and a huge hit on the QB that was ruled an in-completion. Kyle Fortner and Dallas Carraway also added TFLs. Again the Viking secondary was their usual stingy self by in-your-face man to man coverage only allowing 4 completions on 15 attempts. Another strong performance by Isiah Miller, Kamar Hall, Harrison Gowland and Calvin Johnson.  Offensively turnovers killed several drives but we were able to get in the end-zone enough to win easily.  Again our triple option offense was clicking behind the direction of QB Maddux Harrell rushing 10 times for 87 yards and a swerving, tight rope dancing down the sideline 39 yard TD run. Danny Evans was a bulldozer at fullback with a 5 yard TD run, and Oru-Ntui Kkiri (OT) had a shot out the cannon 56 yard TD run and another run for 25 yards. Harrell also completed a 40 yard pass to Thaddeus Young who made a nifty cut after the catch. The JV team finishes with a 6-2 overall record this year. The B-team also won Thursday to finish their season undefeated at 9-0. Congrats to these young men on both teams and their families as they are our future Friday night superstars!
