The Lady Vikings Softball Team attended the Lady Wildcat Invitational in Lexington this past weekend. They battled hard both days an got their first victory of the season again Swansea 12-4. There was a lot of great plays and outstanding at-bats by all. The Lady Vikings look to improve from this past weekend Thursday when they take on Dreher.

We had another great weekend in Track & Field at the Redhawk Invitational hosted by Westwood HS. The Lady Vikings finished 2nd overall as a team.

The Lady Vikings Track & Field Team had another solid weekend at the Trojan Relays hosted by Northwestern HS with a 2nd place overall team finish. This was not your typical track meet, it was a fun meet with various relays which are not usually run. Highlights from the meet include:

Boys Track

This past Wednesday the Boys Track Team had its first regular season meet. Our Vikings defeated Blythewood, ACFlora, and LR - 31,28,26 to 162 for SV.
This past weekend our Boys won the Trojan Invitational over 15 schools including State contender Northwestern. Our next meet is tomorrow here at SV.
Baseball

The Vikings defeated White Knoll on Tuesday night 3-1 to move to 1-2 in the region. Senior Kyle Rogers got the win on the mound throwing 5 2/3 innings while giving up 0 runs. Sophomore Hunter Rogers picked up the save.
Senior Da'avion Sumpter led the offense recording 2 hits.

The Vikings baseball team was victorious Friday night as they defeated White Knoll 6-2 to move their region record to 2-2. Kyle Baker got the start on the mound for the Vikings going 3 1/3 innings while giving up 2 earned runs. Junior Frank Tolar came in relief to throw a scoreless 3 2/3 innings to pick up the win.
At the plate Tolar led the offense with 3 RBI and a double.
The Vikings will be back in action Wed as they travel to #9 ranked River Bluff.
Girls LAX

Last night (March 14), the Girls Varsity Lacrosse team traveled to Irmo to play the Yellow Jackets for the second time this season.
The Vikings ended up with a win against Irmo, 14 to 1.
The following players had goals and assists throughout the game:

Throughout the game, the Vikings maintained possession of the ball. We had different girls trying out new positions. It was fun to see our Vikings try new things!
We will be playing Blythewood for an exciting game on Friday night at 6:00 pm. This game will be the biggest and most exciting game of the season. Please come and support our Girls Lacrosse team on Friday!

Tonight, the Spring Valley Vikings and the Blythewood Bengals played a well-matched game on our home field. Both teams have been looking forward to this game all season.
Throughout the game, both teams were working their hardest to keep possession of the ball, to be fast to the grounds balls, and to utilize good passes to their advantage.
The Vikings ended up with the following statistics:
Ashlee Nall #7 - 2 goals
Turner Prewitt #17 - 1 goal
Hannah Huntley #12 - 2 goals and 1 assist
Payton Starmack #20 - 3 goals, and 1 asisst
Bay Thomas #13 - 1 goal
Our Viking goalie, Tianna Fuller, had 12 saves and allowed 11 goals. She was on her game!
The ending score was 9 to 11, with the Bengals taking the lead.
This game was an emotional roller coaster for the fans, and for both teams. Bengals, thank you for the well-played match up!
Girls Soccer
3/16
On Friday, SV girls soccer traveled to River Bluff to face one of the top teams in the state. Both teams fought hard and generally played well, but River Bluff was too talented to overcome in the end. The Junior Varsity opened play with a 4-0 loss, and the varsity concluded the evening with a 3-0 loss. The Vikings play two more exceptionally talented opponents this week, traveling to Dutch Fork tomorrow and hosting Blythewood Friday. Statistics below.
