The Lady Vikings traveled to Oak Hills Golf Club yesterday as one of 5 teams participating in the region tournament.  The Lady Vikings played 18 holes to determine the 3 teams that would be moving on to Upper and Lower State next week.  Congratulations to the Lady Vikings for finishing in 2nd place behind the region champs, Blythewood Bengals.  With a team score of 424, the Lady Vikings managed to nudge out the Lugoff Elgin demons team score of 430.  Other region teams participating were Sumter and Irmo.  The low medalist for Spring Valley was Madeline Kay, others contributing to the overall team score were: Maddie Webster, Millie Spivey, and Millie Sox. 

Also congratulations to players earning region honors: Madeline Kay and Maddie Webster.  The Lady Vikings will be moving on to the 5A Upper State tournament next Monday at the Waterford Golf Club in Rock Hill. 

Boys Cross Country

On Tuesday the Vikings won the Lugoff Elgin Invitational against 11 other teams. The Vikings finished with 48 points and Blythewood was 2nd with 70. Individually Murray Jones won the meet in a time of 17:22, Andrew Polson was 7th (18:26), Carlos Angeles was 8th (18:41), Mark Wild was 15th (19:10), Jacob Ho was 17th (19:12), Patrick Kittrell was 19th (19:22), and Fernando Castro was 21 (19:30). On the JV side the Vikings won with 17 points behind Ethan Taylor in 1st, Jaden Bowden in 2nd, Azunna Njoku in 3rd, Tyler Shuler in 5th, Simon Wyatt in 6th, Jack Stacy in 9th.

On Saturday the Vikings hosted the Cici's Sandhills Invitational. The varsity finished 12th out of 37 teams. Leading the way for the Vikings was Murray Jones in 21st place with a time of 16:44. Also running well was Jacob Ho 58th (17:19), George Wells in 73rd (17:35), Fernando Castro in 86th (17:41), Mark Wild in 130th (18:18), Carlos Angles in 151st (18:34) and Andrew Polson in 164th (18:41). The JV Vikings finished 2nd out of 23 teams. Leading the JV Vikings was Henry Pettis in 2nd place (18:28), Ethan Taylor in 7th place (18:57), Jade Bowden in 11th place (19:02), and Azunna Njoku in 13th place (19:07).   

Football

The SV Varsity Football defeated White Knoll 31-9 for Homecoming to run their record to 5-2 and 1-1 in the region. The Vikings were led on offense by RB Adrian Ross who had 10 Carries for 51 Yards. RB Anthony Wilson 5 Carries for 42 Yards and 2 Touchdowns. Hunter Rogers 6 Carries for 74 Yards and a 61-yard touchdown run. Isaiah Miller had a touchdown. TJ Wise had 5 carries for 69 yards, 1 reception for 22 yards and a 2 pt conversion and 2 knockdown blocks  Aiden Long OL had 10 Knockdowns 1 Exceptional Play and 1 Pancake. 

On Defense, the Vikings were led by  Anthony Wilson had 10 Total Tackles, 2 Tackles for Loss and 1 Interception.  Max Shropshire had 9 Total Tackles and  Oru-Ntui Nikiri had 13 Total Tackles 6 Solos, 1 Sack and 2 QB Hurries. On special teams, the Vikings were led by

Alex Herrera who had 3 Punts for 114 Yards Avg. 38 Yards Per Punt and was 2 for 2 on PAT’S and 1 Field Goal Made. 
The Vikings travel to Sumter in a key game for first place in the region. We need a huge crowd to travel to Sumter.
