Twelve Spring Valley Discovery students submitted research papers to the 2019 Department of Defense-sponsored Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS), which took place on January 18, 2019, at the University of South Carolina. Based on their written research papers, the following students were chosen as Semifinalists. Semifinalists were competing for the opportunity to attend and compete for scholarships at the National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium in Albuquerque, New Mexico (all expenses paid).

In the finalist round Pallavi Rao, Vamsi Gorrepati, and Shubhanjali Minhas earned third place, fourth place, and sixth place, respectively. Pallavi and Vamsi will compete in the National JSHS poster session in April. Finally, Kayla O’Grady (12) earned first place in her session.
