Discovery Students Excel at the 2019 South Carolina Junior Academy of Science (SCJAS) Competition
Eighty-three Discovery magnet students traveled to Francis Marion University in Florence, SC for the 2019 South Carolina Junior Academy of Science (SCJAS) meeting. Students competed with both written research papers and oral presentations by category. There were over 300 oral presentations. Our students earned 66 awards totaling almost $3000 (see the full list here). In addition, Pranav Guntupalli, Parth Patel, and Sirawit Shimpalee each won first place in both the written paper and oral presentation divisions for his category. Congratulations to all of our Discovery students for their hard work and dedication. Also, a big congratulations and thank you to these students' research teachers, Ms. Lindsey Rega, Mr. Dale Soblo, and Mrs. Michelle Spigner, who spent hours reading research papers, helping with experiments, and encouraging students to persevere!
