Varsity Girls Basketball
On Tuesday, the Lady Vikings defeated Aiken 45-29 to improve their record to 11-1 on the season. The team was led in scoring by Cierra Carter with 21 points while shooting 7 out of 8 from the free throw line. Also contributing were Akia Dunlap with 8 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals. Other scorers were Briana Hill with 4 points, Raven Fleming with 4 points, and rounding out the scoring was Keisha Greene, Joi Jones, Dominique Hill, and Bayleigh Ponds with 2 points each.  

Varsity Boys Basketball
Congratulations to the boys basketball team with the victory over Aiken High School 65 to 58. Our leading scorers were Jordan Bruner with 12, Chris Adams with 11 and Ja'lon Williams with 10. We also had Marcus Hollway and John Miller both added 8 points each. Good team effort!  Please come support us tonight, January 9th, as we play Sumter High School at 8:00 pm.

Wrestling
The wrestling program has been active over the winter holiday break as the Vikings, both the JV and Varsity, travel to Durham, North Carolina to compete in the Sonny Inskip Invitational. The varsity finished 4th at the Sonny Inskip Invitational while the JV competed in the Bull City JV Brawl.  The JV team was led by outstanding performances from Champion Vincent Wilson, Ford Tolar, Matt Ruepke, Tyler Bacon, and Josh Porterfield who all paced in the top three finishes.   The varsity competed on the same day and was led to a 4th place finish led by tournament champion Rene Rodriguez who pinned his way through the entire field. To start off the New Year, the JV team traveled to White Knoll to compete in the Carolina Open Qualifier.  Those earning automatic bids as finalists included Zack Black and Josh Thompson.  Devon Quattlebaum and Lee Moore had outstanding tournaments as they both finished in third place. On the 3rd and 4th of January the Varsity competed in elite competition at the Palmetto State Classic. The Vikings finished 5thout of 18 teams. The team was anchored by Senior Brandyn Thompson who went undefeated and took first place in the championship. However, the fifth place finish was a complete team effort as every member of the team score important team points including Jarrod Maldenado who earned his first two varsity wins by pin after joining the team late and only having 11 total practices. 

Varsity Girls Basketball
The Lady Vikings defeated Sumter by a score of 65 to 36. Cierra Carter scored 36 points and grabbed 5 steals to lead the Lady Vikings.  Akia Dunlap added 11 points.   Briana Hill hit 2 three point shots.  Megan Davis scored 4 points and dished out 4 assists.  Other scoring included Bayleigh Ponds with 2 points, Joi Jones with 2 points, and Mileesha Doctor with 2 points.   The Lady Vikings push forward with a record of 12-1. Special Note: Cierra Carter is 3 points shy of reaching 1,000 points.  Come watch the Lady Vikings on Friday, January 10th versus Lugoff Elgin High.


JV Girls Basketball
The JV Lady Vikings defeated Sumter yesterday 41-33 to improve to 8-0 on the season.  Anaja Matthews lead all scorers with 18 points, Breanna Martinez added 13 points, Malayah Montgomery 9 points and Cierra Wilson 1 point. The JV Lady Vikings will be back in action on January 9th at home against Lugoff-Elgin at 6:45 p.m.

Wrestling
The wrestling team traveled to Eau Claire last night to wrestle both Eau Claire and Columbia High School.  The team fell in the first match, losing another close battle with the returning regional champions, before rebounding to beat Eau Claire soundly.  The team was led by seniors Kyree Harris, Brandyn Thompson and Rene Rodriguez all finishing the night undefeated.
