On Friday, the girls soccer team improved to 8-3 and maintained a 3-way tie for the lead in the region with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Lugoff-Elgin. While Spring Valley controlled most of the game, Lugoff-Elgin played a solid defensive game.  In the first half, an impatient SV team failed to score and fell behind 1-0 on a L-E penalty kick goal.  In the second half, a more dominating performance and a few alignment changes served to create a multitude of chances, with Katherine Lenti serving a great ball to Angie Downs for the tying goal.  With about 12 minutes left, Caroline Herrera buried a 22 yard free kick in the upper right corner of the goal for the win.

The JV team defeated L-E 2-1 after a 1-1 tie and penalty kicks.

On Tuesday, both teams travel to region-favorite Blythewood for games at 5:30 and 7pm.  SV took the first Blythewood game at home, so a very tough match is expected.
