Destiny Lewis was one of nine finalists to qualify for the SC State finals for the Poetry Out Loud Competition, which was this past Saturday at the Columbia Museum of Art. Though she will not be advancing to the national finals, she did an excellent job representing herself and Spring Valley. The competition at this level was fierce, and she held her own. The poems she recited were "One Art" by Elizabeth Bishop and "The moon now rises to her absolute rule" by Henry David Thoreau. A total of nearly 4,000 students participated in Poetry Out Loud competitions across the state this school year and we are proud that Destiny was one of the nine state finalists!
Great Job Destiny !
