HSAP No Longer Required for SC HS Diploma
South Carolina high school students are no longer required to pass HSAP (the "Exit Exam") to receive a high school diploma. Former Richland School District Two students from 1990-2014 graduating classes who met all other requirements for graduation may now petition the Richland Two School Board of Trustees to receive a South Carolina diploma. Act 155 (H.3919), which provided for the elimination of the exit exam as a requirement for a high school diploma, was passed by the General Assembly and signed into law by Governor Nikki R. Haley on April 14, 2014.
People eligible to receive a diploma under these conditions must:
- no longer be enrolled in a public school
- have been denied graduation solely for failing to meet the exit exam requirements
- review the Richland Two Guidelines for Petition of High School Diploma in Accordance with Act 155
- complete an Act 155 Petition Form by December 31, 2015
For more information about ACT 155, visit the SC Department of Education’s website.
Please allow 8-10 weeks for processing, printing and delivery.

New Procedure for Reserved Parking for Seniors
Any senior who wishes to receive a reserved parking space in the lot in front of the school (Atrium Lot) or the lot closest to the tennis courts (Tennis Lot) should sign up via our new lottery process. Students will be randomly selected for parking in those lots. We are instituting the lottery so that all seniors have an equal chance to park in those lots, not just the seniors who are able to come by the school during orientation. Some families are out of town, on vacation, etc., and those students miss the opportunity to park in those lots.
Seniors wishing to participate in the lottery for reserved parking should fill out the form here no later than midnight on August 10th. Students who receive a reserved parking space will be notified by email on August 11th and should plan to come pick up their hanging tags on August 13th or 14th between 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM or 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM. Students should bring a completed Parking Agreement to be filed with Mr. Jackson when they come to get their hanging tag.
Please note, all students must complete Alive@25 training in order to be eligible to park on campus. Students who have not yet completed the training, but have registered for the course, can bring their registration confirmation to Mr. Jackson to receive a temporary parking permit for the two week period immediately prior to the class.
Seniors who wish to opt out of the lottery and park in the Upper Lot (near the gym) can pick up their hanging tags at orientation.
NOTE: Students must be signed in to their RSD2 Google accounts to access the form to register for the lottery.

Do you plan on playing a sport at Spring Valley High School this year? If so, you must have a physical on or after April 1, 2014 to even tryout. Here's a great opportunity to get your required physical and help support the school. MEDcare Urgent Care (next to Chick-fil-A on Two Notch) is offering sports physicals for $20 through August 31, 2014. To show their support for the schools in our community, MEDcare will donate $5 per sport physical performed back to a participating school, as designated by the parent or student at the time the physical is performed. The school with the most sport physicals performed at a MEDcare Urgent Care Center, during this promotional period will receive an additional $250 donation! More information is available online.
