Engineering Camp Wraps Up

For the past two weeks, students at Spring Valley High School's Summer Engineering Camp for Middle School Boys had a great time working together on a multitude of engineering design challenges. They learned about teamwork, design, and documentation as they worked together on exciting projects in robotics, structures, circuits, and rockets.

Proof of Residence 2015-2016

It is time to verify and update student information for the 2015–2016 school year. Parents must provide proof of residence documentation each year. If you have not already provided this information please do so as soon as possible. Parents/legal guardians should have received an email containing a “snapcode” and instructions for creating an account through the online Enrollment and Annual Registration page. Documents may be uploaded via the web or physical copies can be turned in to the Guidance Office. Please refer to the district's FAQ for questions. Your timely assistance in this matter will ensure a smooth opening of school for your student. Thank you.

Class of 2016 Senior Portraits

I hope your summer has been fun and  relaxing! The 15-16 school year is getting closer, and with that it is time to start planning for senior year. Below is some important information about senior portraits.

If your child did not have his or her senior portrait taken at Spring Valley High School either during the third week of June or during make-up days on July 20-21, please make it a priority to call our contracted photographer, Prestige Portraits/LifeTouch to schedule an appointment.  The local number is 788-1620.  The deadline will be the end of September, but don't delay calling because studio time is limited with time slots being taken up by other seniors from several local high schools throughout the area.

Please remember that only senior portraits taken by Prestige Portraits/LifeTouch will be accepted for the yearbook. As done in last year's book, seniors will be able to pick two pictures to appear in the yearbook (both taken by Prestige).  Seniors will not be able to be photographed at Orientation - that will simply be for 9th-11th graders.

If you have any questions, please email Lisa Brindel at lbrindel@richland2.org.

R2i2 Summer Engineering Camp Wraps Up at SVHS

The week of June 22nd, Spring Valley hosted R2i2’s Summer Engineering Camp for High School Students. At the camp, 36 high school students from around the district worked in teams to design, build, program, and test increasingly-elaborate robots to meet increasingly-complex design challenges. First they built one-motor robots with gear ratios to compete in strength and speed. Then they built two-motor robots that they could drive and that could drive themselves around a room and along a winding road. Finally, they built multiple-motor robots to drive, push, grab, and lift in order to cooperate together to compete on Spring Valley’s small VEX skyrise field. The students had fun, worked hard, and made some really interesting designs. Check out their self-driving car here.
