IT Support

Hello SVHS Families,

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we adjust to the changing circumstances.

As issues arise with your child’s device, teachers should be the primary and first points of contact for students who need assistance with instructional issues, or anything that they would normally assist with.
Work Orders Repairs during the Shutdown

IT staff will be onsite at Dent Middle, Longleaf Middle and Polo Road Elementary from 8am to 4pm daily to provide walk-in support for students who have damaged devices which need repair, or for limited general assistance.

If needing to pick-up a replacement device, the student must be present with a student ID or a photo ID such as a driver’s license that we can use to validate who the student is.  The technicians do not know the students and parents, so it will be necessary to identify them. If the student doesn’t have an ID, we can look-up the parent by their photo ID, but that’s going to take more time, and technicians will need assistance to do that.

Technicians will have a limited supply of loaner devices from district stock (not from the local schools) which will be checked out in the 1TWO1 app to the student. The damaged device will be accepted, a ticket created by the technician, and the device will be transferred for repair as soon as possible. Once the original device is returned from repair, depending on whether the shutdown is still in effect, we will decide how to recover the loaner devices and return the originals.

If fees have to be applied for a work order
Damage, loss and theft policy applies as usual.  Due to the nature of how loaners are being issued, the technicians will not negotiate or debate over fees. They will simply record what is reported by the user into a ticket, and the rest will be sorted out by the usual staff once normal activities resume.

Technicians will not be able to assist with specific software applications. They have no knowledge or administrative access to the software that schools use.

Parents and students may be directed to the three support locations, where someone should be operating the front office area generally, and the technicians may be found in these areas. Technicians will have dedicated phones so that TLCs may reach out to them if necessary, but technicians are not providing over the phone support to parents and students. The phone numbers are for TLC and IT use only.

Locations for Repair and Loaner Pick-up:  Weekdays 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Dent Middle; Longleaf Middle; Polo Road Elementary

Important Prom Information

Due to the closure of the school, we are temporarily suspending prom ticket sales. We are awaiting more information from the state/district and will resume ticket sales once we have the updated information. We were originally going to increase the price of tickets each week, however, if we can only sell for a limited amount of time, the prices will remain the same throughout sales, and will most likely be in the middle of the lowest and highest cost. Email rshelton@richland2.org if you have any questions.

SV #WinItWednesday

Our Viking JROTC teams are our #WinItWednesday Recap. They had a triumphant weekend on two university campuses in February. The Spring Valley JROTC Raider Team withstood a grueling 3-hour, 10-event during the annual Paladin Raider Competition at Furman University, The Viking Raider Team as the only USAF team represented during the competition bested 9 other teams to finish 2nd overall in the competition. This was the highest finish by a Spring Valley JROTC Raider Team.

The Viking Drill Team competed in the annual Low Country Drill Meet hosted by Charleston Southern University. Out of 10 possible events, the Drill Team placed in 9 events, and finished in 1st place in 6 of those 9 events, to finish in 1st place overall. This was Spring Valley's 4th time finishing 1st overall in 4 competitions. The Viking Drill Team will compete again in Irmo on 21 Mar at 0900.

Virtual Get-Away

Do you need a virtual get-away? Students can attend a live reading of a BRAND NEW book being created daily called Quaranteen.  There's a lot going on these days, what with school closures, and social distancing, and toilet-paper conundrums. It's heavy stuff. It's worrisome stuff.

And it's stuff that we're all experiencing right along with Aiden Tyler, the title character in author Rex Ogle's (Free Lunch) new & original story, AIDEN TYLER, QUARAN-TEEN. Rex is writing this creative new middle-grade offering in real-time, about our real-world predicament, and will be reading each week's newest chapter aloud on this one-of-a-kind webcast "serial"! Tune in every Tuesday at 2 p.m. ET to catch the latest in Aiden's quaran-teen'ed story--and stick around after the reading for a weekly Q&A with Rex. This is the perfect virtual get-away for students and educators looking for a fun and relatable escape from their own quarantines!

Can't make the live readings? Don't worry! Every episode of this webcast serial will be recorded and available to watch on-demand.
