Congratulations to our Viking Band students, the staff, and the volunteer parents who were extremely successful on Saturday, September 28th in our first marching competition of the season. The Viking Band performed at the Midland Valley Mustang Classic in class 3-A competition. Classification is based on the number of wind instruments in the band. Most bands in the state have their shows in various stages of completion, and we were able to perform all four movements of our show. We are still in transition and growth, as we add Color Guard to the 4th movement, and add visual choreography to each movement. The Spring Valley Viking Band was able to earn a 2nd place Superior rating finish in a very competitive 3-A class. Spring Valley also earned the captions of BEST HORN LINE, and BEST DRUM MAJORS in class 3-A. Out of all 21 bands, in all classes, Spring Valley tied for first in "Highest Music Score" and highest "Overall Effect Scores". With our show only 80% complete, that shows a great deal of promise, as we add the final touches each week. Way to go Viking Band!
