SV Receives Two Palmetto Gold Awards

Today, Dr. Mick Zais, State Superintendent of Education, announced the Palmetto Gold and Silver Award recipients for the 2013-2014 school year. Schools and career centers were recognized for general performance, closing the achievement gap, or for both. Within each category, a school may be awarded either the Gold or Silver designation. We are proud to report that Spring Valley High School was one of only 65 schools that were awarded the Gold designation in both categories. Of this group, Dr. Zais said that "the top 5 percent truly are our superstars." Dr. Baron Davis, Principal of Spring Valley, noted that "the awards are a testament to the outstanding quality of our faculty, the hard work done by our students, the involvement of our parents in the academic lives of their students, and the support of the school district."
