The Career Information Center is pleased to announce that we have two colleges visiting us from the Atlanta area this week. Both are single gender schools for young women.
Agnes Scott College (Thursday, September 4, 2012) is an independent undergraduate college for women in downtown Decatur, Georgia, nestled inside the perimeter of the bustling metro-Atlanta area. The college offers 34 undergraduate majors and 31 minors. Atlanta is well known for being home to a large number of colleges. While Agnes Scott students enjoy individual attention on our campus, they also have access to cross registration and social events with our affiliate Atlanta and Georgia colleges such as Emory University, Georgia Tech and Georgia State, just to name a few. Students who graduate from Agnes Scott receive a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree. Agnes Scott’s public health major is one of only a handful of undergraduate public health programs available at a liberal arts college in the U.S.
Spelman College (Friday, September 5, 2014) has held the distinction of being America's oldest historically Black college for women. Now a global leader in the education of women of African descent, Spelman College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and are proud members of the Atlanta University Center Consortium. We are dedicated to academic excellence in the liberal arts and sciences and the intellectual, creative, ethical and leadership development of our students. A Women's Research and Resource Center was created in 1981 with a grant from the Charles Stuart Mott Foundation. The goal was to provide an academic unit to the College that focused on curriculum development in Women’s Studies, research by and about women of African descent, and community outreach. WRRC is the first women’s research center at a historically Black college and the first one to offer a women ’s studies major.
IF ANY JUNIOR OR SENIOR STUDENT IS INTERESTED IN MEETING WITH AN ADMISSIONS REPRESENTATVIE FROM EITHER OF THESE SCHOOLS, PLEASE SIGN-UP IN NAVIANCE OR WITH MRS. ASHWORTH IN THE CAREER INFORMATION CENTER.
