The Discovery magnet program at Spring Valley High School has been selected as an InnoVision finalist in the Education category. As stated on the Innovision Awards website, “The Innovision Awards Program, founded by Deloitte in 1999 and presented by the McNair Law Firm, P.A., is South Carolina’s premier organization dedicated to the advancement of technology in the state through communication, education, and recognition of the spirit of innovation and technological progress. For 16 years, the InnoVision Awards have been the mark of distinction for outstanding leadership, innovation, and technological excellence. As the only awards program of its kind, InnoVision Awards distinguish businesses, individuals, and educators who set new standards for innovation.” Award winners will be announced at the Awards Dinner on November 11th. Congratulations to all of our Discovery faculty and students!
In addition, senior Discovery student Martin Lap Yin Li has been chosen as the 2014 Ibrahim Janajreh Young Innovator for his development of a prototype floor tile designed to produce electricity when a person steps or walks on the tile through a mechanical system of gears and levers. Congratulations to Martin, his parents, and his research teacher, Mrs. Michelle Spigner.
