U.S. Navy Brass Band Performs @ SV Tuesday, October 14th

Established in 1945, the United States Fleet Forces Band serves as the Navy’s musical ambassador for the Hampton Roads and the Mid-Atlantic region.  The U.S. Fleet Forces Band is comprised of 45 Navy Musicians that perform in a variety of ensembles including Wind Ensemble, Ceremonial and Marching Band, the popular music group “Four Star Edition,” brass band “Uncharted Waters,” as well as several chamber music ensembles and reception combos.

The U.S. Fleet Forces Band regularly participates in events of national and international significance including performances for current and former presidents, foreign dignitaries, members of national and local government, and ship commissioning ceremonies.  A partial list of events include: Fleet Week New York City 2014, 2011 Operation Continuing Promise aboard USNS Comfort (T-AH 20), the 2010 Canadian Naval Centennial in Halifax, Nova Scotia, 2006 humanitarian mission Pacific Partnership aboard USNS Mercy (T-AH 19), Operation Sail 2000/International Naval Review in New York, support of the 50th Anniversary of D-Day in England and France, and annual performer in the Virginia International Tattoo.  The band has performed with many internationally renowned artists including Lee Greenwood, Harry Connick, Jr., Garrison Kiellor, Chuck Mangione, Sugarland, Marvin Hamlisch, and Michael Brecker.

The U.S. Fleet Forces Band performs over 600 engagements annually.  Its mission is to provide musical support for ships, shore activities, Navy Recruiting, foreign dignitaries, and community relations events.  The “Finest in the Fleet” entertains audiences totaling in the millions every year. 

Parents are invited to join us for this diverse, high-energy show that blends chart-topping hits and traditional New Orleans style brass band favorites.  The performance will take place in the Spring Valley Auditorium from 8:40-10:23 a.m. These Navy musicians are among the Navy’s most talented and versatile and entertain audiences of all ages.
