Varsity Football
The SV varsity football team defeated Lugoff-Elgin 40-14 Friday night to run its record to 5-3 on the season. The Vikings were led on offense by the rushing of Kevin Owens who had 120 yards and 2 TD's, Kadarius Bunch who had 1 TD. Also scoring for the Vikings were WR Kavon Breeland and RB Bryson Jones on TD passes. Vincent Wilson had a great game on the offensive line.
The defense was led by a fumble recovery for a TD from senior Austin Adams. Also having good games were JC Pope 10 tackles, Ty Tallant 8 tackles 1 tackle for loss, Tyler Frazier, De'Marcus Muscove, Jordan Willaims Michael Asbury and Ja'Lon Williams. The Vikings region record is now 1-1. The Vikings have a big showdown with Dutch Fork HS this Friday at home and need a huge crowd to help knock off DF 6-2 2-0 in the region.
Boys Cross Country
Last Wednesday the Boys Cross Country Team finished the regular season by defeating Ridgeview. The Boys finished the season at 12-3. Saturday we ran in the Sandhills Invitational and finished 5th out of 35 schools. This is a young team who is continuing to improve and trying to qualify for the State Championships. At this time our varsity is: Ben Garrett, Jacob Maldonado, Cam Brandenburg, Matt Frierson, Shash Ravi, Steven Andreen, and Jon Kaus.
We compete in the Region Championship this Thursday at Sandhills.
