Changes in 11th Grade State Testing

This year marks the beginning of important changes in state testing for all juniors in South Carolina.  These students will take a college and career readiness assessment and WorkKeys, which measures essential workforce skills. There are three parts of the assessment: Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information and Locating Information.  Depending upon the minimum score received on all three assessments, a student may earn one of four National Career Readiness Certificates: Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze.  These certificates can help students find summer and part-time jobs, as well as immediately open doors for careers after high school. We would like all of our students to strive for Bronze.  Students who reach a score of Platinum will be individually recognized by the school for their accomplishment.

In preparation for WorkKeys assessment in the spring, all third year students will take a pre-test on Chromebooks, Thursday, November 13, 2014. This will be a school-wide testing day for students. Students who are testing must bring their Chromebooks charged and ready to test! Freshmen, sophomores, and seniors will have designated areas to report. Specific activities pertaining to academics, character education and career choices have been organized for each grade level and attendance will be taken by their homeroom teachers in each session.

The WorkKeys pre-test will measure the current skill level of each student.  They will use this measurement along with web-based resources to make any skill improvements before taking the actual WorkKeys assessment on Wednesday, April 29, 2015. (No late start!)
