Congratulations to visual arts teacher Joshua Drews! In January, Drews was elected to the governing board of the National Art Education Association. He is the new Secondary Division Director-Elect of the NAEA! Drews' volunteer position includes national board meetings, being a spokesperson for all secondary art teachers in the United States, creating position statements for the organization, and establishing the first ever National Art Honors Society national conference for high school students. After his election, Mr. Drews announced that he is excited about promoting secondary visual arts education in the United States. He has also launched a plan to collaborate with college art educators to design an improved high school visual arts curriculum that will effectively segue secondary students into redesigned college art degree programs. Mr. Drews is an incredible art teacher here at Spring Valley, and our school is thrilled for his national recognition!
