Discovery Students Compete at the Prestigious International Science and Engineering Fair

Discovery magnet students Grace Smith (junior), Jacob Cooney (sophomore), and Tanvi Mehta (sophomore) recently attended the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Grace and Jacob competed against over 1700 other finalists representing 78 different countries. Tanvi participated in a Project Share and served as a Public Day Volunteer as part of her role as an Observer. Grace earned third place in the world (and $1000) in the category of Behavioral and Social Sciences for her research on the correlation between level of self-determination and level of post traumatic stress disorder symptom severity in veterans. All three students had a wonderful experience at this international competition! Congratulations to them, their parents, and their research teachers, Dr. Bedlek-Anslow, Mr. Dale Soblo, and Mrs. Michelle Spigner.
