Discovery Students Excel at the 2017 South Carolina Junior Academy of Science (SCJAS) Competition

This past Saturday, March 25th, fifty-three Discovery magnet students traveled to Coastal Carolina University in Conway, SC for the 2017 South Carolina Junior Academy of Science (SCJAS) meeting. Students competed with both written research papers and oral presentations by category. There were over 280 oral presentations. Our students earned forty-three awards. In addition, Casey Carter, Elizabeth Bickel, Elizabeth Dillon, Elaine Patterson, and Aman Pitalia each won first place in both the written paper and oral presentation divisions for his or her category. Congratulations to all of our Discovery students for their hard work and dedication. Also, a big congratulations and thank you to these students' research teachers, Dr. Bedlek-Anslow, Mr. Dale Soblo, and Mrs. Michelle Spigner, who spent hours reading research papers, helping with experiments, and encouraging students to persevere!
