Girls Track & Field
The Lady Vikings track team had a solid season opener at the Diamond Hornet Invitational. We finished in the top 8 of 30+ teams from all over SC and NC. Highlights from the Field events include: 3rd in the Pole Vault (Morgan McLeod), 8th in the High Jump (Ikia Morgan), 8th in the Triple Jump (Chyna Thompson), 8th in the Discus (Breha Fulford). In the JV Field events we had 4th in JV Long Jump (Anaya Keough) and 8th (Ikia Morgan), 2nd in JV Discus (Haley York), 6th and 8th in the JV Shot Put (Haley York and Rebecca Bishop respectively).
We also had solid performances on the Track beginning with a 4th place finish in the JV 1600 (Citlaly Rojo), 4th and 6th place finish in the JV 100m (Tori Ward and Jonnica Fuller respectively). Two athletes made the finals in the 100 Hurdles, finishing 6th and 8th (Courtney Pratt and Chaylana Scott respectively). Senior Gabrielle McGee finished 6th in the 800m and Sophomore Danielle Murrin finished 7th in the 2 Mile. Freshman Amaryah White finished 7th in a competitive 200m race. We finished 5th and 6th in the 400m Hurdles with freshman Jasmine Hughley and Chaylana Scott respectively.
We also placed in all 3 relays with a 7th place finish in the 4x100 (Mikalya Turner, Chyna Thompson, Tori Ward, Amaryah White), 6th in the 4x800 (Khasmine Harris, Jasmine Hughley, Paige Waters and Gabrielle McGee) and an impressive 3rd place finish after running in the cold for the 4x400 team (Amaryah White, Ahja Amos, Gabrielle McGee, Mikayla Turner).
Our next competition is scheduled for Saturday March 11th for the Razing Canes/Azalea Invitational at Summerville High School.
