Spring Valley High School is proud to announce, social studies teacher, Mrs. MaryAnn Sansonetti-Wood has been selected as a 2017 American Geographical Society (AGS) Teacher Fellow. Mrs. Sansonetti-Wood is one of 51 of colleagues which represent the best teachers across the United States who study and teach geography. AGS is proud to recognize and welcome Mrs. Sansonetti-Wood to the organization leading the national cause for geography and geospatial science.
As a part of the benefits of being selected as a Geography Teacher Fellow, Mrs. Sansonetti-Wood will travel to Columbia University in November to attend the AGS’s Geography 2050 Symposium: The Future of Mobility. The Symposium will draw hundreds of geographic and geospatial leaders from across the country. The AGS Teacher Fellows will also take part in a Mapathon coordinated with Mapping for Resilience, a collaborative mapping project funded by the United States Agency for International Development. This project will provide high-quality mapping for a specific part of the world that specific part of the world that needs this information quickly. Mrs. Sansonetti-Wood will also receive opportunities throughout the year to become involved in as an AGS Teacher Fellow.
